hard to find...
I have been searching for almost a year now for a 350 tpi for my t/a and.haven't found anything around here. Anyone have any suggestions? Some people have said to get an lt1 but this is my first motor swap and id really rather have somehing that's plug and play cuz this engine stuff is still confusing lol. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried junk yards and haven't found anything. Actually I found one extrmely i've priced l98 from a vette but im not paying 3k for a motor that was pulled at 120k miles lol. Anyone have any ideas? I take any at tie point lol

Um, obviously the only logical swap is a 305.
sbc with a bump stick and a carb
I already got a 305, that's why id like to upgrade to 350 with a cam upgrade and some other bolt on's. And id like to stay away from carb's if possible. I like the torque from the tpi. Im going yo get 3.73's in a couple weeks. Car just came off the road in november and im finally able to do some decent work to it and not have to be concerned with fuel economy

My uncle has a few tpi motors up at his shop next time I am there I will ask if any are 350's and if he is willing to sell. If not best bet is Craigslist.
you looking for a complete engine or just a long block? any engine mods or just stock?
And what price range?
Yeah looking for a complete tpi and id like to do a cam and maybe a couple more bolt ons. And I kinda don't want to go over 1k as a total max price, that's like fir an l98 with aluminum heads lol
what induction do you have? carb or TPI? if you have TPI all you need is a long block and everything could swap over.
I have a tpi but I want to keep it easy on myself and also I plan on trying to sell the 305 when im done with it

Try the seller "fparts" on ebay motors. They do a lot of vette TPI pulls, but may be out of your range of $1,000. They are in eastern PA I believe.
i looked on ebay for tpi's. i found a company in a.z who is fully rebuilding tpi's (like fully....every single thing is rebuilt and the motor is cleaned up and painted like brand new) and they offer free shipping so i think i may go with them. they are $2k unfortunately but i am thinking i'm going to save my pennies all summer. thanks for the help guys

just get a 350 and put your tpi stuff on it? selling a 305 isnt gonna net you anything really.

I was going to say exactly what nasty did. I had an 85 trans am that we swapped a 350 into and put my tpi stuff on with no problems.

Agreed with everyone above. You're killing yourself looking for a motor with a TPI already on it, when you'll need to pull the tpi off anyway. Old Multec injectors are notorious for taking a dump, especially when sitting for long periods (IE taken out of a car or sitting in a wreck).
If it was me, I'd look for an 87-95 truck 350. This way you get a 4 bolt block in the swap, instead of the 2 bolt crap that comes in every stock TPI motor. Next I'd order up some new intake base gaskets. Then injectors from FIC http://www.corvetteinjectors.com/sho...p?productid=23 complete with the runner gaskets and new O-rings. Then you need a prom for the new injectors/350. http://fastchip.com/ or http://www.tpis.com/pages/efi Then lastly, you may want to do headers at the same time. I wouldn't waste my time bolting crusty manifolds back on to your new motor. Also while you're at it, if you don't want the motor to look old, degrease it (Brakleen), and tape it off, and then hit it with some high temp engine enamel. Take the TPI off, and have it hot tanked, or just degrease it and maybe powder coat it. Better yet, swap on a Holley (Weiand) Stealth Ram while you're doing all the work (if you have extra $) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-7540/ The chip and injectors are the key. If you don't make sure those jive, the motor will hate you. Things I would do while it's out: Oil pan gasket, Timing cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, maybe a new oil pump. Degrease/paint the engine bay. Obvious things like plugs/wires. Lower temp fan switch. Hope this helps. |

Still looking for a 350 tpi? My friend may be picking up a car to part it out, he had mentioned maybe keeping the motor but he would probably sell it for the right price. If your still looking I'll try and get ahold of him this week.
