whatever they do DONT bring the ssv ute over as a "el camino" that thing is ugly. i love the original el caminos though

Frosty 03-30-2011 12:00 PM

Yeah as long as the Ute stays over there. The El Camino was a POS then, it'll do horribly today.

BigAls87Z28 03-30-2011 12:13 PM

Yeah, we broke the news a long time ago. Some sites actually cited us some didn't.
Chevy will see at least 1 sedan but we wont see this till the VF platform is ready.
As for the Elky, there is a lot of support for the Ute to come state side.

Sweet! I tried getting a G8 GT when Pontiac was going down but I'm too poor. My truck payment is up in 2013 so I'll be looking for this.

sweet

NastyEllEssWon 03-30-2011 03:12 PM

if the ute thunder comes to america i will split a wig, pony up some dough and trade in the ion...pending a 33k or under price tag.

NJ346 03-30-2011 03:28 PM

If this car doesn't come with an awd option, I'd still take a Charger over it

BrandonDrecksage 03-30-2011 05:16 PM

i'd be all over the ute...or a wagon. v8+rwd+6 speed+functionality=awesome

it would be good, they just better not slap chevy badges on the ssv and call it an el camino.. chevy needs to re-design it. the holden ute is absolutely hideous:barf:

or how about a blast from the past...revive the sprint!

redsoxsstink 03-30-2011 07:30 PM

the front is not really an issue its the bed portion of it. it just looks out of place and idk ugly. like wahts with that piece of glass right behind the door idk it just looks bad. it needs to be sharper and less rounded. style it after a cts, a ct-mino would look awesome

spina74 03-30-2011 07:55 PM

personally, i think the ute aka maloo is bad ass, i'd drive one....i posted a video of the vauxhaul vxr8 and maloo not that long ago, assuming the chevy ss has the 6.2l s/c motor thats something id consider financing.

BigAls87Z28 03-30-2011 09:26 PM

These would be still built in Australia, so it would be a limited run, with only the Commodore coming in like the G8, with a 6 and 8 cylinder engine.

GM already planned on bringing the Wagon and Ute here to the US back in 2009, when they debuted a G8 ST and G8 Sportwagon in New York. Pontiac even had a contest where people could name the "ST", but everyone seemed to like it.

All these vehicles will be revised and will recieve a new design by the time they come here, but dont expect anything specific to make it look like an "El Camino" or anything like that.

not having that little quarter window makes a massive blind spot

BigAls87Z28 03-30-2011 10:12 PM

BTW, the Sedan being shown at Midnight...is not RWD.

BullittSVT 03-30-2011 10:17 PM

I love Australian cars :)

Cruze SS?

Edit: It's the Malibu supposedly. Apparently it was leaked on Youtube, but pulled quickly.

BigAls87Z28 03-30-2011 10:57 PM

Yeah, its Malibu.
Malibu will debut in Shanghai as Malibu will make a global trip before it touches down in America.
3 more mins...and its just a bunch of teaser stuff.

Here it is...well, the teaser shot. Enjoy

NJ346 03-31-2011 06:55 PM

I just watched the video.....from what I can see, it looks just like a 4 door camaro from the side and back with a different nose. If it comes in a V8 awd platform, I'd be interested in buying.

BigAls87Z28 03-31-2011 10:48 PM

Nope...it will be nothing like that.
It uses Camaro's design elements, mostly in the rear.
FWD, 4cyl models only. 2.4 SIDI engine will be standard, a brand new 2.5 liter engine on LT, and a turbo 2.0 to replace V6 model.

88WS-6 04-01-2011 08:33 AM

Will they offer a manual trans with any of those?

GM Inside News reports that, after a long internal struggle, the General has approved for production a project codenamed the “SS sedan” to debut in 2013 as a 2014 model. There also might be an El Camino variant in the works.
