WS6 specific info

with the purchase of the 97 TA WS6 im looking for info on build numbers for the car. ive googled and been thru ls1tech and i see that all the 98+ cars were actually done by ASC, not SLP, but the 96-97's were done by SLP, however due to SLP loosing the contract, they kept poor records of the cars they did in 97. my car has a factory build date of april 1997 so it must be towards the end of the lt1 ws6 lifespan. anyone have any good sources or knowledge they can pass on? thanks

Will give you production numbers for RPOs at least.

well well welll that site says i have a 1 of 1 car with my options lol

Blackbirdws6 07-12-2011 04:53 PM

LOL yea that site said the same with mine. Not sure how accurate it is. Every LT1 is a snowflake I guess.

im sure our cars are rare enough... out of 3371 ws6's in 97 maybe by some chance ours have one odd thing the others didnt, one weird rpo code lol... try running say a ford taurus VIN... if it comes up as 1 of 1 you know its broke!

My 93 k1500 is one of one as well

Yeah you have to look by your rpo codes though. That site breaks it down into build week, amount of new car smell applied, and barometric pressure when the tires were filled.

mmmm new car smell.

greenformula92 07-13-2011 07:50 AM

mine says one of one as well....you gotta remember that its's one of one in the model year....and if there wasn't a lot made, like in 92 there was only 883 formula's made your chances of being one of one are much greater

QFT

They break it down by way, way too much. I would guess that the build week alone makes most cars one of one unless it's a high production vehicle.

Hey, look at it this way! If you break it out by VIN, your car is 1 of 1!

maroman88 07-13-2011 12:48 PM

would PHS be worth anything??

maroman88 08-03-2011 06:37 AM

well i narrowed it down to 1 of 357 red 97 ws6 coupes with an M6.

i contaced SLP and they have no record of my car by VIN....

Hello Mike,

I tried the new number and it is not in our data base. General Motors may have retained the information about the 1997 WS6 vehicles.
