MY ticket thread!

well last night i was driving to get my brother brake lines so he can go to north carolina today, this guy in front of me was speeding and saw two cops sitting in a parking lot so he slams his brakes to slow down, the cops pulled me over saying that i was tailgating him, and they gave me the no mirrors ticket and unclear plates because my dealer tag almost blew out of my car so i put it in my glovebox, i can live with the mirrors and plates ticket but the tailgating ticket is 5 points which will put me at 11 points and i prolly wont be able to afford insurance, car payment and rent since i dont make much money, so do you guys think there is any chance of me getting out of the tailgating ticket,or am i screwed since it will be my word against a cop?
thanks

make sure you go to court, talk with the prosecutor and try to explain your position and try to work out a deal. most will work with you, it might cost you a little more but in the long run it wont. if the fine ends up being to much all at once, the court will take payments be clear on what you can afford to pay.

Tailgating is 5pts? Holy hell. Good luck man, definitely go to court and explain your situation.

Yea, you can get it knocked down to 2pts if you have a clean record.

You expect a member of the JSFBOA to be literate enough to actually read posts? That's asking a lot man.....:D

Meeting with a lawyer is the right thing to do if you're actually innocent.

This is a good suggestion. Also, make sure you actually bring money with you to court. Judges hate when you walk in empty handed. Talking to the lawyer is a very good idea, especially with six points and no more unsafes.
