Inspection/Insurance Options
Hey guys,
So my car is slowly becoming a more track dedicated car with occasional street driving. I have no Cats, and am planning on deleting AIR and EGR soon. My inspection sticker is expired as of last month, and i'm not really sure what to do. I was looking into "collector car" insurance since I don't drive the car much and I could avoid emissions, but one of their criteria is that the car must be garaged (and I don't have a garage...). Is there a legal option for me, or does everyone who deletes emissions find a way to just "get by"? Also, is there a better insurance option for me since I don't drive the car much other than just paying full insurance? Thanks for any help! Sean |

What would be stopping you from passing a plug-in inspection aside from no cats?

Have codes deleted, run some fake or real cats for the odd chance they look hard, and win?

Don't they do any tailpipe emissions? I guess I really don't even know what they look for now since they changed everything. My car smells absolutely horrible (well, I love the smell), but its obvious it doesn't have emissions stuff on it. Won't they notice? haha

OBD2 = PCM check only and a visual check for cats.

I was at the Lawrenceville inspection station today. I saw they had cameras mounted on the floor and they can inspect the bottom of your car via video monitor. It was like that floor cam on the barrett-jackson coverage.
I was there for maybe 10 minutes, the family Pilot passed easy. Next week I get to take the 93 K1500, tail pipe test! But I put a new EGR in today, so it should be gold. I hope. |
