Hold on to your butts....

Irene is coming this way.

Sunday morning is going to be bad. High tide mixed with storm surge = major flooding.

BonzoHansen 08-25-2011 12:52 PM

In before jeff complains about his boat and dock lol

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-25-2011 01:13 PM

I think I'm heading down south tomorrow to take the boat and old ski out of the water....after I go wavejumping

WiMiMc 08-25-2011 01:34 PM

i'll be watching bound brook flood from across the river

Blackbirdws6 08-25-2011 02:25 PM

I will just be checking the sump pumps battery backup and making sure I have beer in the fridge.

maroman88 08-25-2011 02:42 PM

ill be working dispatch midnights thru the weekend and when im off ill be out with my FD... NO SLEEP!

zraffz 08-25-2011 03:49 PM

I work with the local road department... it will be a blast not sleeping for days on end.

It's supposed to smack New York as a Stage 4 hurricane, Northern NJ will have stage 3 effects.

I work in Somerset right on Elizabeth Ave, post up if it floods here so I know not to come into work monday lol

sweetbmxrider 08-25-2011 05:49 PM

I'll see what my opti thinks....

JL8Jeff 08-25-2011 06:03 PM

Well, this cut my week at the beach early and I'm home now so I can pull the boat out of the river and take the dock apart. My boat doesn't have a bilge pump so it's probably wise to take it out of the water. The boat ramp down in Beach Haven was crazy today with lots of people taking their boats and toys out. It's amazing how bad people are at backing down a perfectly straight ramp! They would never make it down our ramp on the river. Looks like it's gonna be an interesting weekend, need to stock up on beer and ice just in case the power goes out!

You might be let down, didn't they just finish that flood gate?

SRGN, where do you work? I work right on Elizabeth also on the corner of cotton tail.

Went to Walmart today for some stuff. It's amazing how in a panic people are getting. What are the estimates on how long power and stuff is going out?

SRGN 08-25-2011 06:07 PM

I work on the corner of Elizabeth and Pierce, the big manufacturing facility(Veeco Process Equipment).

2kblackgtp 08-25-2011 06:29 PM

I just realized what a brain fart I had. I work on pierce, not elizabeth.

Nope, just the big parking lot and building, look closely and you'll notice the gigantic hydrogen tank in the middle of the parking lot lol. There's also a tank of pure ammonia at the rear of the building, plus some other really nasty gases in the building(silane, arsine, etc). Company also has the other building directly behind here on Belmont Ave.

I read we would only get stage 1 or 2...

Atlantic City Electric has said outages could last several days. :(

BigAls87Z28 08-25-2011 10:01 PM

Yeah, not sure if Irene is srs or not.
At this point, I am not prepared for full on wind assault. Will have to crank up the jack stands on the 87.

WiMiMc 08-25-2011 10:10 PM

if it just me or is this storm seem like its overhyped? because of the news/interwebs? i remember floyd was bad but about this one people seem like they're freaking out even more

BigAls87Z28 08-25-2011 10:44 PM

I normally don't like our Jabba The Hut gov, but one thing he doesn't do, is mince words. He said GTFO, and I think he means it. Would be the first time he cared about the people of this state...

WiMiMc 08-25-2011 10:46 PM

yeah i was watching the conference or whatever you would like to call it earlier, and i was getting frustrated at the people asking questions. he clearly addressed pretty much everything, yet people were asking the same stuff over and over.

i dont know how many times he began an answer with "like i said before"

BigAls87Z28 08-25-2011 10:59 PM

Yeah, for a guy that is very succinct, they love to ask him the same **** over and over again. The "are you going to run in 2012?" questions is hilarious. He looks like he wants to hammer them over the skull with a sledge.

WayFast84 08-25-2011 10:59 PM
