my mind is made up

but I'm a fan of democracy, so I'll listen to your opinions.

I currently own a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. A guy I work with has a notchback 5.0 fox body Mustang. He wants to trade his Mustang for my Jeep. I'm gonna go for it, what do you all think?

Blackbirdws6 08-25-2011 02:12 PM

Who cares what we think? Its your car.... :) I don't know what each is worth but are you buying it to mod or just something different to drive?

BonzoHansen 08-25-2011 02:23 PM

Oh, a car. I thought you were coming out of the closet. In either case do what makes you happy.

WildBillyT 08-25-2011 02:42 PM

Do it.

BullittSVT 08-25-2011 03:17 PM

Details on both the cars?

I'm more of a road guy but Cherokees are cool.. hard to choose

wrong generation 08-25-2011 03:34 PM

with out the cherokee won't you loose mod status ? lol.

maroman88 08-25-2011 03:38 PM

winter is coming....

Anti_Rice_Guy 08-25-2011 03:47 PM

Go for it, but without mileage and such of each it's tough.

When did you get a Jeep, again?!?! I had to check the date of the OP, make sure that I didn't just trip the light fantastic and go back in time.

madness410 08-26-2011 01:19 AM

The mustang has a 5.0 and an AOD, it runs just fine, it just has an exhaust leak. Its not the original motor/trans because it used to be a 4 banger. Unsure of mileage, but I've heard the car run and it looks pretty clean. I'll get more info on it later. The jeep is a 99 and has 123K miles on it. 4.0L and auto, but it has a salvage title. The mustang also comes with 4.10 gears.

why does this feel like 2005?

newtownhood 08-29-2011 12:19 AM

summer is pretty much over and you'll regret not having the jeep if we get snow. Trust me, I'm trying to sell a mint '90 LX 5.0 convertible and have no takers. If you do it, make sure it has the 8.8 vs. 7.5 if the car used to be a 4cyl. Is it carbed or FI? Typical "Swapped" cars don't pull money, maybe $3500 tops. Unless it's really well done and all upgraded..

I doubt I'll see any snow, I'm stationed about an hour and a half from South Carolina. Plus, I'll be in Afghanistan for the winter :) . It's EFI and I'm not really worried about the resale value, can't be much worse than my salvage titled jeep. I'll be sure to check which rear end it has.

You can always find another Jeep, but a notchback 5.0 (albeit not factory) is harder to come by. If you want a toy, I say go for the stang but if you need something reliable and good for the woods down there stick with the Jeep. Do either have A/C?
