Question about pontiac oil pan gasket

We are trying to put my firebird back together in time for the would be "F-body nationals" (I know we aren't having one this year but I'd still like to make it to A track at some point this year), but it seems Pontiac does something weird near the back of the engine. They have the nylon/rubber gasket that overlaps the cork gasket around the last bolt holes. Are we supposed to just silicone/gasket seal around it or cut off part of the gasket?
Or should I wait a little while and get the one piece gasket from Buttler Performance?
I've never really seen anything like this so if someone could advise me it would be great.

I believe they can overlap a little....or you can cut them to fit and use a dab of black silicone right between them to keep things leak free.

I kind of figured that's what you do but I wanted to make sure first.
