Looking for FULL or Part Time work!
I have been out of work for over 2 years now and my unemployment has run out. I have made up my mind that almost any kind of work will help pay some bills. I know when I go on interviews, that when I sit in the waiting room, there are 20 year old kids that will do the same job I am applying for, with a college degree and will accept it for half what I used to be making.
I am 68 years old with a ton of management background, but if I have to drive a parts truck for AutoZone (or whoever) that's what I'll do. I live in Central Jersey and would hope that someone has an opening that I could quickly fill. My wife would love to see my Formula on the auction block, and I know if I have to sell it, I will NEVER get to afford another like it again.:( |
I personally don't know of any but specifying what your college degree would be might help others. I would look into experience.com since Seton Hall posted my resume there and I still get job offers from it even though I have one. They're all legit jobs, no spam or anything.
Also, I assume you have a college degree not a collage degree  |
Tanks four the corect speeling of the woed collage.
I do not have a college degree, but gained my job experience from working over 50 years. In this economy, it means nothing to most employers who will pay the least, want someone who has computer knowledge like Bill Gates and is just out of COLLEGE. Not for sour grapes that I am in this position, but there are jobs out there, just not what a family could live on. |
Have you tried speaking to the county labor office? They sometimes have some excellent programs for people looking for work. If training is needed, they may offer that as well. My father-in-law has gone through this process and so far so good.

Ed,
What did you do before? |

Ed,
wish I could help ya out. Just a lil too old for my line of work. No insult intended, just that I am sure that at age 68 you wouldn't be wanting to climb around on rafters and building walls on pilings 3-4 storys in the air. jobs: driver / parts help... my buddy Vinnie owns a NAPA store in Waretown, he's always looking for good reliable employees Custodian/maintenance guy Super easy job, great pay, a lot of schools look for older guys to do this work evening shift. like 4-12. I did it a few years ago for some extra $. I believe i made like $15-$16/hr. Got paid for 8hrs. but always was done in 3-4hrs. best of luck man. |
times are tough. try wally world.

Do you have a criminal history? Can you pass a drug test and do you have any problems walking or going up stairs?

Just wanted to say in public a HUGE THANK YOU to madness410 (Jon) :hail: for getting me a lead that turned into a JOB offer. I start on Monday and I can't wait to get back into the work force.

Thanks to ALL for congrats posts. It feels good to have a lot of Positive comments come forth in this dismal economy and to now have something to look forward to everyday.
We are creatures of habit and when that chain is broken, your whole outlook on the future goes down the drain. If your young enough, you can shake it off and go off in search of another job, knowing you have your whole life in front of you. But get to the point where you know that age discrimination is going to be a silent killer, and that keeps you out of most jobs. You REALLY GET PISSED off when enough doors keep getting closed in front of you, but of course the employers can NEVER say "He's too old", they just don't egknowledge that fact. |
Just be easy on those clutches old man ;-)
