My iPod died today. Oh the ironing.

mc73nova 10-05-2011 07:41 PM

Wow, he was young. R.I.P.

1984camaroz28 10-05-2011 07:41 PM

LS1ow 10-05-2011 07:42 PM

Jersey Mike 10-05-2011 07:46 PM

Yup, I heard earlier... I guess not all Apples have virus protection.

...Too soon?

In all seriousness though, RIP to the man that brought me the iPod touch.

WildBillyT 10-05-2011 07:49 PM

This is a big loss. Even if you are not an Apple fan this man's work has had a big influence on your everyday life.

BigAls87Z28 10-05-2011 07:51 PM

Very sad stuff. Everything we know about technology comes from his mind. He didn't create them, but he understood how these devices could be used to help people, and he more than anyone else could make these systems easier to use for everyone. He brought technology into the house, by coming up with the personal computer, and continuing innovation and leading the way. Everything you own, technology wise, is based off his ideas.
He embraced and lived the American dream. He changed the world. A true leader lost.

Fleetwiz 10-05-2011 08:00 PM

RIP...ranks up with Edison Ford etc...and I'm not an apple fan...true American ingenuity.

RIP...you did well...

BonzoHansen 10-05-2011 08:02 PM

The hyperbole machine is in high gear but he was a very smart guy and died too young. Pancreatic cancer is a tough SOB. It doesn't care how rich you are, how smart you are or anything. Very sad.

WS6_CAIT 10-05-2011 08:03 PM

Wow.... just what, a week after resigning?

BonzoHansen 10-05-2011 08:08 PM

He resigned in August

T69SS 10-05-2011 08:18 PM

Very sad... RIP Steve Jobs

fmybody 10-05-2011 08:38 PM

A coworker and I were discussing this yesterday... crazy it came true..

What ever, I'm not the least bit upset. He was a greedy bastard, could've easily helped out this country a lot more as well.

One of his better speeches. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc

He was a great business man, whether you're an Apple fan or not.

His success was based on harboring illegal activity. His products are double the price of products of equal quality from competition and his American company could've hired thousands more of Americans.

Srs.

You are aware that he did a lot of work in the pre-iPod days? If you are using a mouse and not a trackball you have his work to thank.

Everything you do in your life, sans that time you came on your face, is based on something that Jobs did.
The computer you just made that post with is because of Steve Jobs. MP3 players were around before iPods, but they were chunky and low capacity. Once iPod came on, everyoen had to rethink wtf to do. Apple single handily, with one carrier, murdered a super-dominate smart phone maker, and making smart phones much more acceptable to those who don't have an MBA. Illegal activity? Hiring more Americans? Sorry buddy, but America couldn't build a transistor radio without it burning someone's face off, much less build a complicated and elaborate cell phone. It is not about hiring more Americans that makes him a good man. I am by no means an Apple man, and I have never purchased an Apple product, ever. But I understand greatness and I understand what he did allowed the growth of technology and innovation here in America, something that has waved bye-bye to us long ago. He represented the last hope of America in my eyes, the last man that symbolized a Modern America. We squandered all of it away, and kids like you are the result.

WayFast84 10-05-2011 11:33 PM

If you want to discuss this pm me.

But yeah so sad a guy I never met died. Devastated.

NastyEllEssWon 10-05-2011 11:39 PM

maroman88 10-05-2011 11:46 PM

BigAls87Z28 10-06-2011 12:09 AM

Never heard of Steve Jobs? Really? I can see not caring about he did...actually, I can't, because you do. You do, and you don't even realize it.
But never heard of Steve Jobs? Mindblowing.
