my gf's sister was driving her 2008 nissan sentra yesterday and upon coming to a red light, she hit the brakes and the car shut off. after she restarted it, everytime she hits the brakes her oil light comes on. anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? sensor maybe?

My old cobalt used to do stuff just like that..and the motor was supposedly built by nissan for chevy. Mine was the computer..
|
turns out the dealer she bought it from rebuilt the motor wrong...car is shot...thats why id never buy a nissan
|
How many miles are on the car?
How often was the oil changed? Nissan/Infiniti are very high-tech motors and rely on oil pressure to be operate. I see this scenario often when people do not change the oil in the car. |
not sure, all i know is under 80k, but her dad bought the car as is...apparently the only thing it had was a seatbelt warranty...lol

See above post :)

oil was just changed like 2 weeks ago, did a compression test and they said the rings were all burnt up
|
Who did a compression test? How about oil consumption test? Was the work performed at a Nissan dealer? Which dealer was the vehicle purchased at?
Not when it was changed last. . .How often was it changed? |
I'm kinda lost never heard of bad compression causing a car to shut down coming to a stop then restart. If it had bad compression it would be missing more then anythinge. Oil light coming on is probably due to it stalling/lower rpms when she comes to a stop. All 4 cylinders came up with no compression or just low ?
Honestly sounds more like an air leak or vacuum leak to me. How many miles since the rebuild or no idea ? Any more info on the problem. Drives fine just stalls ? |
well it doesnt matter much anymore, bought a new car. not sure to any of the answers to any of the questions.

Welp... thats one way to fix the problem.
