oil pan selection
 
hey guys, im putting an engine together and im trying to decide on an oil pan. what advantage do you obtain from having a 7qt oil pan rather than a 4qt besides more money in oil changes?:lol: i know some have more clearance for stroker cranks and what not but on a factory bottom end(just forged) would i need a 7qt?

A high volume pump needs more oil in the pan to prevent sucking it dry or cavitating. Some other benefits could include lower oil temps due to more oil to disperse the heat through, longer oil life due to the additional oil, and the ability to look cool on the internet and in person when you mention the 7 quart pan!

i like the last reason! lol thanks for the info, i going to pick up a 7qt moroso pan today for really cheap :mrgreen:
