Disconnecting the muffler...
 

Hey you guys happen to know the way that I can disconnect my muffler but keep the appearance? there's a huge hole in the muffler so to save myself from the awful noise I'm just going to disconnect the muffler, however I want to keep the muffler on under the car, to make it look like it's still on there just in case I get pulled over from it I want it to seem like the muffler is still connected.

I found a video on youtube awhile back about how someone did it but unfortunately I can't find it now :facepalm:

Its going to be real loud if you disconnect the muffler.

Just remove the pipe that goes into the muffler from the front of the car. You might have to rig up a hanger or two via universal ones from a parts store just to keep the muffler in the air.

Why not use this time to get a nice catback? :)

Yeah I know it's gonna be majorly loud I disconnected it before when I tried to patch the hole (which failed obviously). it sounded awesome lol. I bought the flowmaster muffler someone posted here on forums but it was a ripoff, the whole thing was welded together backwards, and V has a nice y-pipe on here I could get that would go with the setup but I don't really wanna mix and match with an SLP y pipe and a flowmaster muffler lol, atleast not unless I can find a way to fix this one I bought >.>

Till I have the money for a nice cat back I planned on just yanking it off cause it sounds so stupid lol.

This is a 3" . $30. Summit's site isn't responding right now, but they carry them too. Should be able to use it and re-sell it for most/all of your money back when you change your exhaust.


...Granted, this is viable if you can have the welding done for free. Otherwise, you're looking at $70-$80 total, at which point, you could opt to just buy a used catback for not much more.

I know I could have my buddy weld it for me, it'll just take awhile lol.
