Transmission rebuild manuals?

Any suggestion on which manual/book to buy to rebuild a transmission? Stupidly enough the one transmission I should not attempt to take apart is the one I want to learn on (TH400 that I want to use behind my motor in a few months).

Worse case scenario, I bring the trans to the trans guy in pieces and let him put it together lol... just want to install the trans brake and change the sprag.

Edit:
He would only charge me a few hundred bucks but I really want to learn. My buddy has done a few GM 4 speeds but not a 3 speed and he doesn't seem very confident.

I'd search around the internet first. I was able to find a complete manual for the trans in my last truck. Downloaded it in a .PDF format. The TH400 has been around for awhile so it should be rather easy to find a manual

Search for an ATSG transmission manual.
