500 cubic inch ls billet aluminum block 1 Attachment(s) so i have decided to start thinking about my next project. A 500 cubic inch billet aluminum block to put into a 2002 SS camaro. what are everyone's thoughts? |
get ready to spend money.... |
 What's that about 7 grand |
 $10,500.00 |
Waste om money. You can build a bad ass motor for 10,500 as apposed to a bare block, that you will then need to stuff with an extra expensive rotating assembly and massive heads |

I think ecklers had a turn key ls7 for 10,500 lol If you have the money that thing would he a complete animal |
you building a pro stock car? :) |
I'm tossing around a few ideas in my head and I'm not sure where I want to go with it, I do know one thing I want to get down a quarter of a mile in a hurry |
 You're thinking small...go big or go home! http://www.sonnysracingengines.com/e...p-new-for-2012 |
You can buy a RHS block for 4999 |
I have a few NASCAR tour modified buddies that are willing to help with the build, they are pushing 800 HP on their motors but they are not lsx specific. |
Also I hope you have a car with a lot of chassis work done to it for this motor. That 10 bolt aint gonna cut it ;). If you wanna make a serious drag car, get a certed 25.2 cage, beefy rear, and lots of other expensive chassis pieces and have at it. Just not sure if you are on an average American's budget or a Colombian coke dealers budget... |
Yeah I don't know if a six figure salary will cut it but my first project has taken me four years to complete, and I see this one taking even longer |
I see it being a 6 figure build if you want to go real fast. If you just want a big ass block, buy it and build it mild as hell. |
I will keep everyone posted on where I plan on going with this project as my ideas become purchases |
Well for anyone intristed im doing a RHS tall deck 460ci canted valve nitrous motor, dry sump, 2 4500 tb's , jessel belt drive . i will upload pics later |
 Please do. |
Oh well, it will all come together one day. Right now I'm more concerned about getting my 97' Z up and running with it's 396, still waiting on those damn headers and then off to the body shop it goes for a complete overhaul. Also I'm working on getting my thoroughbred race horse ready for this season of racing. 1400 pounds of sheer muscle going at 50 MPH is too pretty sick. |
