92 Camaro Hatch won't open GRRR

My rear hatch won't open. worked fine a couple days ago. It has a pull down motor but of course it doesn't have the power release on the inside. Also will not open with the key. The only thing I can think of is to crawl into the car, pop the light out to access the cable to try and get it to open so I can pull the panel to see what the hell is going on.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

my first car was a 91 rs this would happen about once a year i would have someone hold the key while i would pull up and down on the trunk when i did get it to open i would grease the crap out of latch then i would be good for another year good luck

got it to pop using the climb into the back seat pop the light out and pop it with a flat head trick. screwy part is if i manually just lock the latch and turn the key it pops, but if the hatch is latched it won't pop. I guess the cable is stretched just enough
