circle track 525 hp question

does chevy dyno this engines underload to get rwhp or is it flywheel hp?

Squirrel 08-16-2012 01:25 PM

All their numbers for crates are via flywheel, what would your plans for this thing be?

specs? circle track motors usually run at specific rpm ranges and may not be great on the street.

You can pick up a gen 1 block that will make that power with ease for a LOT less money, and it'll drop in a lot easier and you can still have a carbed car

belowfire 08-16-2012 01:50 PM

only reason i was thinkin it was i no of one cheap and you mean genIII/V blocks?

BonzoHansen 08-16-2012 02:01 PM

btw there are no specs.

dude that is an $8900 engine and you still need all the accompanying parts.

BonzoHansen 08-16-2012 02:16 PM

is money an object?

belowfire 08-16-2012 02:18 PM

no not really

LTb1ow 08-16-2012 02:25 PM

Buy a cheap 5.3, throw a carb intake on, run a carb, get ****** mpg and enjoy having a ****** carb on a great efi motor. #success..?

BonzoHansen 08-16-2012 02:29 PM

you're 18 and have no budget concerns? nice.

why bother with LS and a carb? if you want to run carb why not do heads & cam on that 350/290hp you sig listed?

ls?
http://www.summitracing.com/search/B.../?autoview=SKU

your sig also says t56 but i remember you having issues with a th350. is your info up to date?

belowfire 08-16-2012 02:30 PM

do i look like i care about gas mileage? n nothing sounds better then a nice cam n a carb everyone has there choices n i like carb alot of ppl like efi thats there choice

belowfire 08-16-2012 02:33 PM

i just kinda blew up that motor the other day... and i have a budget its all not gonna get done right away

BonzoHansen 08-16-2012 02:35 PM

$$ wise you'll probably be far ahead with a pull out 6.0 and go from there. iron block engines are not that expensive.

belowfire 08-16-2012 02:38 PM

So iron block 6.0 out of a truck hmm i got a set of 6.0 heads laying around they worth machine work or should i juat get after market?

Paul Huryk 08-16-2012 03:51 PM

6.0 or 6.2 LS motors are the way to go - get one out of a wrecked truck or car.

Keep in mind that you can get 530 to 570 streetable HP out of those motors with just a cam, heads (sometimes stock ported), and tuning.

You will need a totally new exhaust, upgraded fuel system, electronics, and other items to make that work right.

Carb is counterproductive on a car with limitless EFI tuning capability...

WSex 08-16-2012 05:03 PM

lq4 iron block 400$
stroker kit 3500$
moroso windage tray with nozzles 500ish
custom turbo kit 2000$
intercooler 700$
valve train
and a carb setup with good cam and you got yourself an accident awaiting to happen.

if i had no limit thats the way id go but fi

^thats my wishlist too if anything spares lol.

belowfire 08-16-2012 05:05 PM

Ok so iron block 6.0 i can get one for 200$ its a long block fuel systems easy to get now it comes down to the harness computer and intake n all that fuel ignition **** i dont raeally like lol. Marry it to a t-56 transmission. My exhaust i no ill need new headers but i have a brand new magnaflow cat back on her. So to start ill get the 6.0 heads worked cam i have no idea what to get. Ill most like put this motor in carb first becauae i have the carb conversion kit( got whole thing at swap meet for 50 buchs). Lastly if im going to be running an iron block fuel injected this motors gonna get super charged,

shadowfire 08-16-2012 05:06 PM

umm if money is not object just go but a new zr1

WSex 08-16-2012 05:09 PM

supercharger!?

supercharged is for babies

turbo for more cockpit heat in the winter

belowfire 08-16-2012 05:24 PM

Cockpit heat?

coolmanvette75 08-16-2012 05:30 PM
