INSURANCE
Im looking for a cheap insurance company i had progressive ,i tried esurance they gave me a quote for 640 for 6 months then wanted to charge me 1,190.00 i called and canceled real quick

Turn in your license and registration, its cheap then.
|
im about to sell my cars and pick up a bus pass

I just went through this, it all depends on your driving record. I have had Esurance for 2 years. I just got my wife into a new lease and the price went up a little, as it should with a new vehicle, so just out of curiosity I got quotes from about 6 different companies just to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off(any more than we already are!) and Esurance was still the cheapest. If you have a very clean record, I'm not sure how it works but I hear New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance is the cheapest.

Geico got a much better rate for me... had esureance

I have njm and they are the best..plus at the end of the year we get a dividend:)...they can do this b/c they only insure folks w/good driving records thus less payouts. You need to work for a co that sponsors them or have a family member who has them. You can try New Jersey Re-Manufacturers though..they are an offshoot.....i had to go w/them before njm took me.
|
NJM quoted me a thousand more a year than the company I am currently with. Definitely not the cheapest!
|
state farm here. my camaro and silverado are in my moms name so there dirt cheap. my hummer is in my name and i got a nice jar of vasaline in the mail with every bill they send. i wouldnt say there the cheapest but ive had worse

21st century cheapest for me

Just thought I'd chime in, I have my daily driver and the GTA (the 84 isn't insured at the moment...for obvious reasons) and with those two cars on Allstate its 110 a month. Record is clean and has been since I got my permit at 16 and I'm 26 now. If that seems cheap, its because its the base liability only insurance. My Subaru isn't worth enough to have collision and the GTA well...I'm betting they'll say the same.

geico plays games i heard but my record is far from clean and i paid 2233 a year for my z

Progressive was the cheapest for me. I have no points and took the defensive drivers course online. It was a boring course but well worth the money I saved.
|
Also always have to compare the same coverage vs costs w/these companies. One may be cheaper but deductible could be way higher or liability differs.

Quote:
liability = you hit someone. not damage to your car, etc. 15000 = $15,000 per incident limit. incident = accident, wether you hit one car or 5 30000 = $30,000 policy aggregate. meanign for the term of your policy - effective date to expirati0on date - your payout is capped at $30,000. $15,000 does not cover wiping out my cruze ltz let alone a nice car. IMO 15/30 you re 'under insured" |
We've had Geico for 7 years, cheapeast rates out of every insurance company, even NJM.....all quotes were for same coverage 100,000/300,000 and a $500 deductible
|
Another thing to keep in mind is that your credit rating affects your insurance price. It's ******** that they're allowed to do it, but it does.
|
^^not at all companies. but yeah I can see where your ability to pay should matter because of state mandated cancellation time lines. I don't know NJ car laws, but as example they might require 30 day notice of cancellation. that's 30 free days of coverage. Then you get into the concept of moral hazard.
|
I understand that, but if you're paying the policy in full up front, your credit rating shouldn't matter. Not all look at your credit rating, but I'd say at least 80% do. I'm currently with State Farm for auto and home.
|
agreed. in general I think loans, insurance, etc., have lost any ability for individual review. it's all very mechanical now.
