"Dropped" license
Quick question, maybe someone here can save me some time researching this.
I was pulled over in NH and handed them my NJ license. It was scanned and it came out as "dropped". Cop had no idea what that meant, and neither did I, he told me he tried to find out but was unsuccessful. He made the other person in the car drive just to be on the safe side. I called NJ DMV after I got home to inquire about this, but I was told my license was fine, and that they have never heard of the term "dropped" before, nor do they use it.. My insurance is paid, my registration is paid, my license is not suspended, and last time I was pulled over was in 2007. Any guesses? I googled, nothing relevant came up. |
No takers?

No clue?

Ok, here goes.
The signal to the cop's scanner was lost and the connection was dropped  Just for grins I called the Flemington DMV and they didn't have a clue either. |
you're probably on the no fly list. I suggest running to canada or mexico.

Maybe call the NJ State Police?

Just messaged some friends who are officers. Will keep you posted.

Maybe try going to a local police station if you are still up in NH and explain what happened. See if they will run it again to see if the result is the same and explain to them that when you called NJ DMV they had no idea what you were talking about.

You can always run an MVC on yourself for $35 or whatever it is.
I saw this from January, also from NJ http://www.realpolice.net/forums/ask...d-dropped.html but no answer was given. My friends haven't heard of it, and could only thing of it being expired which I'm going to go out on a limb and say isn't the case  |

It's not expired, that was my first guess but it's valid until 2015. |
Yeah, the cops said that they would have to see the license to come up with anything further, so it wouldn't really be any better than you asking anyone at the prosecutor's office.
|
ive never heard that term "dropped" before either. since you work at a prosecutors office im going to assume you dont have outstanding fines or were absent to any court dates and that you dont have warrants unless you got them after you got hired lol.
when you say the officer "scanned" your license do you mean he ran it through dispatch or did he have a scanner or something present. out of curiosity with prosecutors office are you with |

I'm not 100% positive but he did mention dispatch. I believe he actually tried multiple times. First one was really quick, then he came back and asked me if I knew anything about my license being "dropped", I gave him a wtf stare and that's when I believe he mentioned that he will try dispatch. The whole ordeal took good 10 to 12 minutes. Just got back from work. None of the prosecutors knew what I was talking about and said they have never heard of "dropped" license before. Great.. I'm at the Concord City Prosecutor's office in New Hampshire. I'm not important or anything, just a legal intern trying not to get his car towed.. |
oh ok well im out of ideas then too. new hampshire probably does things much more different than jersey does and i know sometimes its difficult to get information on somebody who hands you an out of state drivers license. but i have no clue what a dropped license could possibly mean. maybe you could try to call the law enforcement agency that stopped you and try to get in contact with an officer there.

How long have you lived in NH? A dropped licence is usually when a licence is dropped out of the system because that person has been found to no longer live in the state. Probably due to the census. Your family should have received a letter in the mail to verify.
This is the best I could find out from friends. |

I'll be in NJ this weekend so I'll stop at the local police station and see if they know anything (I doubt it). If I get towed, I hope it's at least at the town I work at  |
can you get some type of driver abstract to carry with you. Or at least have the NH town that stopped you provide some type of memorandum that you can show during any future stops. Like have them verify with nj and then they could vouch for you? I know its a long shot but I know how much of an inconvenience getting a car towed even if it works out fine in the end.
|
If you get pulled over again, just say "hey *******, you know who I am? You better sit your ass back down in that squad car and eat more donuts or I’m gonna rain down the pain on you”.
|
don't get pulled over.
