Lock your **** up!

For those of you who don't use social media, or are just unaware, there has been a huge increase in performance car theft over the past week. From right here in NJ all the way down to Florida there have been many performance cars that have gone missing since the first of the year. Most notably, Jessica Barton's 1500hp Supra was stolen on the 3rd. Let this pic be a cruel wake up call. It can happen...

Def was not an inside job. She has 8 years almost 200k into that car. Insurance is giving her 20k. No way she could sell those parts and make up the difference. I spoke to her on the phone and the tone of her voice sounded like death. Regardless she isnt the only one. This one was stolen in NJ just the other day too...

Inside job, whether she was in on it or not.

Heres my though. Earlier in the day she was at the track testing the new setup. The car blew out a freeze plug from the block and was put onto the trailer. There was no room inside the shop for the car so they dropped it off at her place. Car was gone in the morning. I really think that someone saw how good the car ran, followed them back to where they dropped it off, and came back in the middle of the night. Same exact thing happened to my friend earlier in the year. Whether you agree or not the moral of the story is to lock your stuff up if you can and keep a close eye on it. Learn from someone else's misfortune so the chances of it happening to you are lessened.

Was her supra recovered? Is that the pile of parts in the 2nd pic. I haven't read that they found it. What's the details on that.

Jersey Mike 01-07-2013 06:33 PM

According to the internet, that's what's left of it.

MyFirstZ 01-07-2013 06:34 PM

or you don't dump 200k into a car lol

You claim they have 200k in the car, but they just "left" it on the trailer outside her house?

I have a ocean front property in Nevada for sale real cheap too.

Lets not be naive.

The_Bishop 01-07-2013 06:38 PM

Surely you're not suggesting shennaningans are involved?

No car was not on the trailer. Was unloaded from the trailer into the driveway.

Of course not, the whole thing doesn't scream attention whore at alllllll

Jersey Mike 01-07-2013 06:45 PM

Curious how you added up the 200k. Sucks, but being that her boyfriend owns a speed shop, they're getting some insurance money, and she has no problem taking her clothes off for cash, I see things turning out "okay" for her.

Nonetheless, it is a pretty ****** feeling to see an investment crumbled.

When you talked to her on the phone, did you console her? When's the wedding?!

1320B4U 01-07-2013 06:49 PM

I may park the car outside now man..thanks...lol.

On a serious note that sucks. 1 question though, i've seen her car on youtube being dyno'd and down the track, but never saw an in camera shot of her (visibly) driving the car. Did she really pilot the car down the track herself??

coolmanvette75 01-07-2013 07:08 PM

No Mike. Lmfao

And yes she drove it

Yes I agree 100%. When my car is back on the road it is going under a declared value policy. Seen too many people with modified cars get burned by using normal policies...

Stop being logical. this is America, it must be someone else's fault.

I wouldn't mind the V going missing... I'm already bored of it, but I'm just keeping it around till its paid off and I trade it in on a V2.

a very clean 5.0 fox body was stolen in belleville sunday night as well as another subaru in nyc friday night i believe. i am now happy i drive a p.o.s. brown pickup truck. what are they gonna get for a sbc with some basic parts, $50 bucks? the kid i traded my 94 z28 had it parked at his house in town for all of 4 days and they smashed the drivers-side window, stole the headunit and subs. happy i live in the middle of nowhere as well.

1320B4U 01-08-2013 06:53 AM

I hear you living in the middle of nowhere but i still lock my ***** up...even my old truck...car trailer is locked too. IHeck, i even lock my cap and it has a jug of old motor oil in it and a sludge hammer.....guess i'm just lazy and don't want to deal w/the hassle if something goes bad knowning i could have prevented it (to an extent).
