ECS

I'm not trying to nut swing or anything but I got bored this weekend I installed one of ECS's kits on my LS3 Camaro. Man, it went on real nice. I used to do installs for an eastcoast tuner so I've seen my fair share of "bolt on" kits. This one really bolted on. Not a fan of twin screws so I opted to try this centri. So far I like it.

Have any photos of the progress or at least the finished product?

Very cool, any specs on it ?

One day...... lol

AintQik 02-19-2013 12:28 PM

Not yet. Didn't tune it. It should make 550-580 rwhp. Its bone ass stock otherwise.

The head unit is a 1500. It should support 700 horse with the fuel and exhaust opened up. I'm running the ECS restrictor plate so it will hit pretty hard then peter out where I want it to.

MyFirstZ 02-19-2013 05:20 PM

Yeah thats what i meant as far as specs the size.

Pretty sweet though man.

I ran a Ysi on my last car and loved that thing. This lil blower should do what I need it to. I hope lol

that is probably the least efficient intercooler that i have ever seen.

AintQik 02-24-2013 06:12 AM

I agree it's design might lead one to make that statement. I had the same thought. However as with everything else they design I am betting it is efficient at the power levels capable for this head unit. Also keep in mind it is designed to fit in a factory location with zero mods and without having to take the bumper cover off. I will bet my car the intake temps never reach a level I am concerned about. I would also bet an inter cooler you are more used to would be overkill for 600 horse. Everything in this kit is there for a reason. But I will let the numbers speak. Will try and get some temp readings on the dyno. Maybe you are right... But I doubt it.

Pulled all the timing out (10) trying to reign it in but it still made 593/570. The factory exhaust is pushing boost up to 13psi. It's a little much on pump. No issues but I would like a little more wiggle. It's got a 3.33 on it, I can run a 3.5 or run meth and open up the exhaust and headers. 593 was with the restrictor plate. It's got an easy 700 in it without blinking. The hot rodder in me wants to spray meth, the sane one wants to run the bigger pulley. Guess which one is going to win?

A? :)

LTb1ow 03-04-2013 02:58 PM

Restricter plate? Da faq is that for, why not just use the BOV/pulley size to control boost like everyone else outside of carbs and NASCAR.

AintQik 03-04-2013 03:32 PM

Well without going into too many secrets :) if you pulley a blower to make boost early it will make too much at max rpm. So, pulley it to hit hard early and cut off the top end. Makes for a fast car.

Why not just add a WG then...?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I would think the resrictor plate would add strain on the blower.

AintQik 03-04-2013 05:44 PM

Proven. It works.
