good antivirus for windows 8.1

so i had windows vista on my old desktop now i have windows 8.1 on my new tower. can't use microsoft security essentials which on an old thread quite a few people were using and liked. can anyone give me some suggestions on a decent free antivirus for windows 8.1 ?
