anyone have a scan tool that will read ABS codes
 
i have an 04 gmc sierra 2500hd. the ABS light came on last weekend. id like to get it scanned. my hand held scanner doesnt go into ABS. any help would be great. thanks. i live in boonton

I have one, but this weekend won't be any good. I work in morristown and I can probably take 287N home one day instead of 80 next week. But i am also in training tue. and wed. so i wont be down this way then either.

Have you replaced the front hubs yet?

i havent replaced anything yet. havent had time. i just want to see what code is in there. id rather have it scannned than replace both hubs

What I meant was, if the hub/hubs are bad they can foul the abs sensor and throw a code. So, if you jack up the front and check for wobble in the hubs that may be the problem. If they wobble they need to be replaced anyway.

i checked them yesterday. the left one had some play so ill be replacing that today. i really hoping thats it.

My scan tool at my shop reads ABS codes...
Kinda off topic buy my stupid 02 Tahoe Z71 had an ABS code (changed all my rotors/pads/copper brake lines) and couldn't do the automated ABS bleed because of a bad sensor in the hub. Hooked the new hub up without installing it, did the bleed and returned the hub ;)

Pretty sure I set some sort of record for bleeding brakes on one of these trucks too. Start to finish was about 15 minutes.

i put the hub in and the light is still on. i guess ill have scanned and go from there

An ABS light won't clear itself when fixed. It won't show up as an active code but will be presently stored as a code until you clear it from the computer.
