Corvette C7 Z06

Seems there was a flurry of updates yesterday after the performance numbers were released for the new C7Z.

Z07 package setup numbers
0-60 - 2.95 secs auto / 3.2 secs 7 spd
10.95 @ 127 for the auto / 11.2 @ 127 for the 7 spd
60-0 - 99 feet
1.2G lateral acceleration

$79k starting price (I assume the z07 package will bring this close to $100k)

Who wants to rob a bank with me?

ThoR294 10-02-2014 09:24 AM

It is a sad day when the auto is faster than the manual :(

I'd still get a 7 speed. 3rd pedal ftw!

This car is so hot.....

sweetbmxrider 10-02-2014 10:09 AM

And it comes in orange :)

1320B4U 10-02-2014 10:21 AM

Love it.

....and I'm in w/robbing a bank. I've been known to do wonders w/evading authorities if I'm in an a8.

Blackbirdws6 10-02-2014 10:42 AM

First world problem is do I sell the G8 to try and snag one, but would need a daily driver. OR replace the G8 with a Charger Hellcat.....

sweetbmxrider 10-02-2014 10:49 AM

The problem is your garage, it needs moar bigger.

ThoR294 10-02-2014 10:58 AM

Ill trade you my G5 for the G8 so you have a DD :)

Blackbirdws6 10-02-2014 11:06 AM

Garage will never be big enough.

I DD the G8 now though....

ThoR294 10-02-2014 11:09 AM

yeahhhh but you can't have 3 RWD high HP cars!!!! lol.

Hell, I'd kill for a 1 car garage.

NJSPEEDER 10-02-2014 11:18 AM

Wasn't an optioned out C6 Z06 around $90-ish? Hopefully they can keep it at or under $100k nicely equipped to stay competitive with the Nissan GT-R.

Can't think of anything else they should be competing against directly. Really anything that is in that performance range from the Euro brands costs more and anything selling for a similar price delivers less performance.

Charger Hellcats are pure perfection. there isnt an angle on that car that i dont like it at :D

NJSPEEDER 10-03-2014 05:39 AM

The Hellcat is the size a a school bus and can only go in a straight line, the Corvette specs released will make it a drivers race with the Corvette and you can enjoy corners instead of fearing them.

Hellcat is by design a toy car. It's for someone that wants to brag to their friends about the limited edition car they bought. The Corvette would be a better car to live with.

sweetbmxrider 10-03-2014 07:00 AM

Um, it has 4 doors? It has a tolerable ride hide. It doesn't scream for attention either. The corvette is clearly a toy car.

qwikz28 10-03-2014 07:12 AM

What's impressive to me is the use of lightweight materials in a car that really doesn't cost much more than a 5 series. I'm pretty excited to see one of these on the road. A few small mods should make this thing maniacal.

Have you heard how loud the Wildcat is in the videos that have been released? The Corvette attracts attention with style, the Dodge has to literally scream for it. lol

Besides, the last generation of Corvettes had great ride quality. I don't see why this would be any different.

0-60 in low 3 high 2 second range is a maniac for me. i think it looks like a bargain at that price range. i want to see the CTS-V with an LT1:shock:

sweetbmxrider 10-03-2014 07:58 AM

It doesn't sound loud to me but that's tough to tell in a video and I know people say its loud. Nonetheless, vettes have a race mode aka open exhaust. Will a vette take a turn quicker than a hellcat? Obviously. For the price and what you get, there is something to say about dollar per smile. http://jalopnik.com/dodge-charger-he...n-2-1641256969 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and 10.7's on drag radials with what most believe to be a sandbagged pass, there is a lot of performance under the hood. As far as the toy car point, a sedan has much more day to day function over a 2 seater or a coupe. It also has plenty of trunk space which is useful in day to day. Then look at the ride height. Pot holes, puddles, snow, and a tree branch will make a vette driver panic while its a little more tolerable in the charger. They are both amazing cars but to say a vette is a better car to live with and a hell cat is a toy, well that just isn't true.

Two different vehicles looking to attract different customers. They are alike in general HP and performance specs. The vette will be the better car no doubt however having a 4 door with over 700hp and a factory warranty is very appealing (It's also at least ~$15-$17k cheaper). I would expect both cars to make the right amount of noise. The C5/6/7 all have very good ride quality IMO but the Z07 option is going to be a firm, track focused suspension.

I was only window shopping both since my current vehicle configuration would just about force me to get a new daily if we selected a vette (total of 5 cars for 2 people lol). The Charger would be a direct replacement for my G8 since my commute to work is only about 10 miles so fuel mileage isn't a major concern. All pie in the sky ideas at the moment considering I wouldn't jump on either within the year since I'm sure dealers will gouge the crap out of both cars.

BonzoHansen 10-03-2014 09:15 AM

i dunno, if i wanted a 4 door, what does an m5 run now? Over $100k?

Blackbirdws6 10-03-2014 09:21 AM

Easily.... $93k base price.

BonzoHansen 10-03-2014 09:41 AM

I'd rather a used m5 than a new dodge product, but to each their own.

Any particular reason, or just personal preference?

Reliability of a used BMW or new Dodge is questionable...
