In the market for a ws6

As the title says I've been searching for a manual ws6 lol.
I have found a couple candidates, but I just don't know the difference from 98-02 if there even is any? Anything I should be specifically be aware of?

The '98 LS1 is least desirable for a number of reasons. Rod bolts and PCM capability come to mind.

V 01-21-2015 12:24 PM

'01-'02 has ls6 intake/no egr
'01-'02 prone to piston slap and oil consumption issues
'01-'02 sail panel prone to bubbling issues
'01-'02 had slightly different cam than '98-'00
'01-'02 had 241 heads(center bolt)
'99-'00 center bolt heads, 853s I think.
'98 has perimeter bolt style valve cover heads
'98 has slightly different PCM
'98 has same injectors as '01-'02, '99-'00 were smaller
'98 has metal fuel tank?(I think)
'97-'98 LS1s had "weaker" rod bolts people claim

I'll update as I remember things...

Have an 02 w/ 61k on it. WS6/ M6/ Monsoon / T Top/ Dark Metallic Blue/ All stock except ORY but have OE Y pipe.

Runs great. Could use paint as its an average respray. Was hit years ago and fixed. Not a perfect car but nice driver. Clean title. Been thinking about letting it go and getting M3.
