Not for me! Need a jeep guy opinion. my niece wants to know if this is a good car to buy. Info I got:

I have a question, I'm looking at a 2000 jeep cherokee xj with the 4.0L engine in it, with 151k miles in it. They want $4300, is that reasonable? It's got a 3 inch lift, 33 inch tires, comes with a spare, and all the lights have been converted to LED. .
I have no idea the market value on these. I hate modified vehicles. Thoughts?

On a side note it is her boss' kid's car so that bothers me too.

Price seems a tad high for an XJ. Justin is the cherokee expert, hopefully he will chime in..

I thought it was high too, especially since it is modified

That too. More like 17 year old vehicle at 151k miles isnt worth 4 grand. "Modified" is just polishing a turd ...

2000 jeep changed over from a distributor to a cam sensor with a coil rail, they changed the head casting to 0311 which in the early years was prone to cracking between cyl 2 and 3 and making nice mileshakes out of the oil without warning, they changed the front axle from the dana 30 high pinion to the weaker dana 30 low pinion, they added two cats into the exhaust manifold, with a third cat down near the transmission (older models only had the one cat near the transmission). I have had numerous jeeps and only one 2000, the head was junk. Not a matter of if the head cracks, a matter of when. The lift depends on the brand, if its rough country, the value of the jeep significant plummets (bottom of the barrel crap, rides like garbage with tons of quality issues). Its going to get terrible MPG with the 33's. Its overpriced. If it was super clean 3500 would be tops imo. It being a 2000 makes it worth less in my opinion. Need more details honestly. 99 and 96 are the years to look for if you want a cherokee.
