Emission standards and stuff

My car blows oil out at startup. I will be getting a new engine soon enough but for now this is bugging me. I go for inspection in february and wonder if I'm going to fail because of the signature 3rd gen camaro puff. Can anyone enlighten me?

If it just puffs on startup you should be fine.....just make sure the car is all warmed up when you get to the DMV :)

the two things they could possibly get you on are visible smoke & emissions itself but from the sounds of it you probably shouldnt have any problems with each as long as your cats or cat are functional.

My daily driver '87 SS had 110K on the original 305 when I went to inspection last year. It also has the usual smoke on startup, but as long as the car is warmed up, you'll have no worries about it smoking while it's online. If it does, just put it in Neutral and rev it up to clear the smoke out before you pull into the station. :) Also, make sure it's in good tune (plugs, wires, etc.) and the cat is in good shape, and you'll be fine. My car passed with flying colors.
