What is the purpose of the water pit at tracks?
 
Some track threads mention water pits at tracks. What are they there for?

make burnouts easier mainly meant for people running bias ply/slicks

cleans the tires off when you spin the tires through them. they should ONLY be used if you have slicks on the car.
