Leno's Olds Toranado on Rides

They turn it from a luxury FWD barage, to a RWD twin turbo LS1 powerd monster to take on the Bentley GT.

i'm watching it right now, the 1 am showing, lol. I want the exact specs on that motor, it isnt exactly an LS1, but based on it, the engine is a 425ci twin turbo, 1000hp. My lq4 should be right around that hp and displacement(422-427) after the build up, but ill have an ATI 1-DSC instead of twin turbos.

While watching the show...I put together a few things....

1- its a one off GMPD motor which looks very much like the LS7 in the C6 Z06
2- It was shipped special to Leno, and GM engineers were involved with the car from start to finish
3- It displaced 7.0...much like the LS7, which is reported to become a crate motor. There is even a spot reserved for it on GMPD.com
4- Bob Lutz was there watching the car, and at the testing.

and one more little thing....if this engine is a one off from GM, displacing a size that GM has not made for production yet....
How did they know it would make 1000hp? HRMMMM?
Ill let you guys ponder that one....

I think GM to the date has released all their "performance" motors to the public as crate motors. I wouldnt be supprised to see the LS7 getting some special press and public show, for it'll be for sale soon.

I saw the show late last night.....and that was the LS7 intake on top :)

but at a compression ratio of 8.3:1, im sure they had to use a lot of forged internals (which would not originally come with the LS7)

engine specs can be found at the bottom here

Actualy, the LS7 has all hand built forged internal parts I belive. At least the crank and rods are. Still no offical news on the pistons.

Yea I also read that the rods and crank will be, but I was mainly referring to the pistons since the CR of Leno's motor was so low, and the LS7 is going to be an N/A motor. Not too sure if GM will go with forged pistons on the final production though...

although i did find some more info....
