Crashed Forums
 

Two other major forums that I frequent have been shut down do to a bot overload. Just a heads up, I also saw the article on Yahoo news, about some sort of a virus, that basiaclly floods the user-base and crashes the server due to bandwith useage. One thing I noticed before both the forums crashed was it was incredibly slow, and a massive amount of new members joining, with no information and random sillly names.

Hope it doesnt happen here or I'll die.

we have heard about this and steps have been taken to avoid the possibility of it happening here. further security upgrades are coming in the next week or two when the site software is upgraded.

in phpBB you can set setings for the Bot control, meaning you enter a # to register.

Yea, I'm just watching things very closely at this point. We are currently running phpBB 2.0.6, and the latest version is 2.0.11. That was a rush release to fix a security hole, however tons of people are having problems with it. They are working to fix it, and I'm watching closely for the new release.
