putting 4thgen seats in a 3rd gen

will a set of black leather fourth gen camaro seats bolt right into my 1986 camaro z28 front and rears?
there coming out a 95 or 96 cant remember exactly.
will front and rear fourth gen seat belts bolt in to from the same year car?

thanks

front seats for sure, backs might need some mods, and i have no clue on the belts

The belts will fit, but they are a slightly different design than the 3rd gen belts.

Ask Tim about them, he has 4th gen belts in his '83.

The backs will bolt right in too but you might wanna do something about the rod on the hump...my 86 had one...i just left it but it looked kinda goofy there.

The rod on the hump? Care to be a bit more descriptive there.....

I don't have any random rod over the hump in the backseat of my '87....don't remember one on my '85 either.

My '85 was a v6 sport coupe, and my '87 is an LT (LG4). Both were pretty de-optioned.

What part of the seat rested on it?

- Justin

89 Trans Am WS6 02-17-2005 07:18 PM

i think the seat bottom..it didnt really rest on it..bah..in fact the whole peice looked pointless..

It was a peice of metal rod that went through the carpet in the center of the hump and a end poked out on each side..

deadtrend1 02-17-2005 08:59 PM

Are you guys talking about the center hinge for the split rear seats?

camaro2you 02-18-2005 12:20 PM

ya that might what hes talking about. but i dont know because ive never looked a split seat car.

V 02-20-2005 04:51 PM

yes, split rear seat backs have that "rod" which is in the middle on top of the tranny hump, full rear seat backs dont have it. for the most part higher optioned vehicles had the split options. and they were mainly 87-92 i believe.
