Midas can kiss my azz!

I went to Midas today to get an estimate on a cat back for my truck cause mine literally fell off yesterday. All I need is two pipes bent from the cats to the back and a pair of tips welded on. I don't run mufflers and there are maybe 4 bends in each pipe. Those clowns gave me an estimate of $511. I laughed right in the guys face and told him not to let my work clothes fool him....I know my ass from my elbow. I then ripped the estimate up infront of him and left the pieces on his desk in a flurry of confetti.

Looks like it's time to find someone with a pipe bender and do it myself.

summit sells a whole prebent kit of aluminum tubing for less then $200 all mandrel bent stuff...might be something to look into.

Hmmmm interesting. I have a buddy with a tubing bender that'll do up to 2 inch pipe. I'm gonna talk to him tonight. I have 2 1/2 on there right now from the cats back but it's only 1 1/2 before the cats. I think I might just drop down to the 2" if he can do it. I don't think I'll lose any performance on a truck engine with true dual going from 2.5 to 2 anyway especially since I don't run mufflers.

a pipe will only flow as good as the most restrictive part

Exactly...that's why I don't feel 2" will be a problem. Still can't believe the factory pipe is 1 1/2 out of the manifolds....that's sickening. If I could open that up with headers and new headpipes I might find some power but it's just a truck and it's lifted and such anyway so there's no real need for power.

shouldve seen my 98 s-10's exhaust on the 4.3 v6...it was like 3/4-1" tops.

I still have my SLP dual 3" stainless cat-back which includes two 3" mufflers and tailpipes that exit in the stock location. I bought it for my SS454 but never installed it. $200 and you could then go to Mufflex and have them put on bigger headpipes to the cats if you want.
