Got the cutout installed....

Went to Meineke today, got the cutout and u-bend delete put in, and deleted the resonator. Took some video comparing with it closed, and with it open, though the video doesnt do justice to how it sounds with it opened...Nice low rumble at lower RPMs, but it screams in the upper RPMs.

kinda sounds like James's firebird, only less buzzy

i cant wait to hear it in person! gotta admit on the video it sounds like crap except for the last part where you're comin around the bend back towards the camera

foff667 04-04-2005 07:14 PM

Squirrel 04-04-2005 07:37 PM

eh well, at least its done now...one less thing sitting on your floor now hehe

BigAls87Z28 04-04-2005 09:09 PM

thats great. Better then the 300 I was raped with for just welding the exhaust I already put together.

GP99GT 04-04-2005 09:25 PM

yeah...its hard to fit a cutout in after the cat, so it hangs down a bit...gonna have to watch out for speed bumps

12secondv6 04-04-2005 09:35 PM

Congrats.

I remember.... mine sounded bad ass at idle..... anything above 3,000 rpm's... HARDCORE ricer!

Headers and high flow cat made it worse.

You shoulda done a high flow cat while under there.... catco... $42... oh well... next time

skorpion317 04-04-2005 09:44 PM

gonna have to hear it in person.

you shouldn't have even bothered revving it from a standstill.....as all we V6 guys know, the 3.8's sound like crap in park/neutral. they sound best under acceleration.

actually it doesnt sound too bad without a load on it...with the cutout open that is. the stock mufflers sound like ass, and now theyre even more raspy cause they deleted the resonator too.

misterjuice 04-04-2005 10:13 PM

thats why i had the stock cat/ubend flanged and just had them make up a whole new pipe...there just wasnt enough room for me to feel comfortable with...now its about a 20 min swap to go back to stock.

nope, but its on like a 45 degree angle down. the pipe locations dont leave much room around them, since theyre inset into the underbody.
