A possible cheap fix is to run some GM top end cleaner through. If you have carbon build up that could cause detonation and then the knock retard. Correct me if I'm wrong.

JUst get an slp loudmouth. The whole system is about 300-330 depending on where you go. Might be too loud for you but I love mine.
