17k is a lot but i guess you're paying likw 4k for the fuelinjection alone. plus you get the warranty. I still say a good bet is to find a wrecked c6( or wait for a c6 zo6) and get a salvage low mileage motor. Even other race engines are expensive though, Beck Racing Engines has(well had when i was in contact with them) a 540 with 830hp n/a and it came with a 300 shot of spray for a 1130 total, almost turn key for $14k(minus starter and oilpan i think) I was going to do it in a 3rd gen drag car, but i sold that project and my plans switched to building my new SS motor. With a 3500lb car(tubbed) and that motor they said it would do 9.5x's n/a all day and like 8.7x's on spray. sometimes i wish i did it.
