No, i'm not talking about the video game. I'm talking about the actual physiological need to move at a rapid pace in a motor vehicle.
I was driving home tonite from school on Rt. 287. I was cruising along at 80 MPH, window down, enjoying the cool night air and the hum of the engine. The memory of driving the Camaro entered my mind. Instantly, my foot went down on the gas pedal. Strange....as if the thought of driving a sports car made my body react as if I were driving one. I don't know what it is, but driving fast in a car seems to be an actual need. I wished i had the Camaro at that point, cuz i would have been doing 100 MPH with the t-tops off, enjoying the rush of adrenaline as I screamed down the highway.
What is it about driving fast, racing especially, that makes it so addicting? There's just something about a cool spring/summer night, flying down the highway that invigorates the senses, and awakens that hunger for competition. Whenever I drive on a night like tonight, I go into a full-alert mode, ready to mix it up with anything that comes down the road. Unfortunately, I'm often in a car that's less than suited for such challenges
Once a race comes along, though, it is a rush like no other. If i had to pick one thing to do everyday, racing would be a great job. I don't think i'd ever get tired of it.
I need a new car. badly. the lincoln and now the saturn are really starting to wear me down. I need something fast, with rear-wheel drive and a manual trans. OK, it doesn't have to be mind-blowingly fast, but it need to have decent acceleration and good handling. I can't stand driving these econobox POS's anymore. anyone feel like giving me some money?
