Left front wheel bearing or CV. The reason the sound isn't noticable when you make a hard right is because you're getting REALLY bad metal to metal... shavings if you would. When metals aren't "loaded" with much force they vibrate at a very high frequency and the result is the scrapping sound. Unload the bearings and you don't get metal to metal contact (making a left unloads the front right). I'm leaning more towards the bearings but it might be the CV. CV's usually occure when you're loading them with torque and have a suspension travel during this acceleration (or engine braking).
I've had the left rear wheel bearing go on me. Are you SURE it's the front and not the rear?
