i think the muffler rule is a good one. it helps to keep the peace (literally) in the neighborhood where the track is. and the passenger seat rule keeps out the real serious race only type cars that are dragged in on a trailer. they only have one seat because it's in the middle of the car and there is no way they could put a passenger seat in without major modification, thereby making it unrealistic for them to compete (just one example of how cars are built solely for the strip - we all know those cars come in many varieties of build from tube chassis to whatever else).
true, $25 is $25, but wouldn't you want to at least have a shot at winning your class as opposed to knowing you can't because of what just rolled of off that trailer?
this type of competition is becoming more and more popular. it's all about making your street car fast, not about building a race only beast.
