See, that's where we disagree. When was the last time a firefighter thanked the engineers that were responsible for saving HIS life? Rather indirect I know, but it's a point I'm trying to make. The engineer might not have the desire to go into a burning building for money but he/she did a huge service in helping the front-line so to speak. It's a mutual respect from my perspective. Nobody earns more respect from their choice of profession. My final reasoning on this subject is this; If I was somebody's only hope I would do the same job as the professional and not expect to get paid or have a parade. So if you're in the profession for fame and glory then I don't like you. It should be more about doing your community a service because you get paid to do what you signed up to do, not paid to be worshiped. If you need an ego boost because things are slow going then fine, I'll give it to you because you need it more than I do.
im not sayin it is jus for fame and glory...i cant say all take this perspective towards it but its not for the money its goin home at nite knowing u have made a difference..i understand what you are gettin at but for the most part my argument is without these people takin the resk they do who would? so i look up highly to these people be it a local firefighter or cop or marine in iraq... Â* back to the other comment by jims 69camaro. Â*the reason i came off as i did was because of the way you approched it in the first post towads "no one is forching them to go do what they do go out an risk their lives". Â*i guess i took it wrong but i got worked up towards the way you worded it.
