it is jsut a symptom of concrete surfaces.
concrete has more grip so everyone tends to run straighter down the center of the lane. that creates a fairly narrow groove that is normally safe. but concrete also collects dew very easily compared to a tarmac surface, so you put a high power car that likes to wander a bit a little off the groove and it is a formula for disaster.
that was also an absolute worst case scenario. i can't ever remember seeing such a violant car of car wreck in drag racing. hopefully i will never have to see it again.
