Why is this wrong? When I was in high school in the late 80's we had behavior policies and could get in trouble for things we did outside of school. Hell they passed a law if you were drinking under 21 regardless of driving you would lose your license for 3 months.
Remember the internet is an open forum. If I make a posting here that I killed someone or sell drugs, you bet your ass the cops would track me down. And they should. On CZ28.com there is a thread where a kid admits to destroying an engine during a test drive where he did multiple burnouts. Guess what -- if the car dealer sees it he now has proof who this kid is and how he destroyed the car.
If I remember correctly, a lot of high schoolers are extremely vindictive and passive aggressive. If some idiot has illegial activities posted on his myspace website and another classmate found out I can see some a-hole turning him in just to f-with him. Remember teenagers (generally) can't keep secrets.
My freshman year at college, my Resident Advisor sat all of us down on our first day and gave us the "you can whatever the f-you want to in your own room, as long as I don't have to see it, smell it, hear it, hear anyone else complain about it, or have to clean it up." His lesson was on discretion. I have no sympathy for someone broadcasting stuid things on the web.
Now we're seeing headlines "15 year old assaulted by stalker from MySpace". Then the article goes into detail on the graphic photos on her Myspace plus descriptions of her exploits. DUH!!! You put that "image" of yourself out there to get noticed -- guess what someone noticed you! This goes beyond wearing short shirts in the summertime, this is a young girl showing explicit pictures for thousands if not millions predators to see.
Sorry for ranting but people need to realize there is no privacy on the net and you need to think about the consequences of posting incriminating pictures and videos. It is not like the school broke into someone's personal computer at home, they went on one of the most visited sites on the web where you posted pictures of things you shouldn't have been doing in the first place.
End of story.
