perfect excuse to throw a paint job on the new mailbox. get in some practice, and all, ya know? i have red and gold flames on my new 'box and except for not properly prepping the surface (no thinner) which made some areas bubble up slightly, it looks killer. certainly the best mailbox on street, if not the neighborhood. all of the car guys on my street have issued kudos, and i even caught the mailman checking it out the first day it was up.
only going halfway to try and let someone know you caused damage to their property is just as bad as not doing anything. why would she expect someone to be home (or, in this case, answer the door) ? and, still, not having spoke with someone should have prompted her to leave her info. half-assed people all over, i swear.
be on the lookout for that F*&$, though, especially with a female driver. tell her you have surveillance cameras on the property that got everything but her tag number... throw in catch phrases like "hit and run" and so on. if nothing else, throw the fear of god into her and get her to replace the mailbox. provided you can catch her, that is. she might avoid your street from now on...
