NJ still needs auto insurance reform, its a joke here.

1337jeeper, if you get a ticket with points, those points stay on your insurance driving record for 3 years from the time you were "convicted"/paid the fine, and it will be factored into your rates every year you renew. depending on the timing/date of the ticket paid and when your policy renews, it may overlap so youll actually be paying for the points for 4 years. I think companys like geico check 5 years back when writing a policy so some insurance companys may hold points longer, but i think 3 years is the average.

i'm down to only 2 points on my insurance from a speeding ticket i got in VA in jan 2004. jan 2007 it will be gone, BUT my policy renews in 9/2006, so it wont show a decrease in my policy till 9/2007.
