I have about 10 timeslips from opposing cars running 9's so I can just show them to people and swear I run 9's? Honestly I wouldn't be so quick to not believe the guy. Sometimes the silliest combos work the best he may also be lighter than he claims or be lying (or misimformed) about his motor combo. Only way to prove his claims are to see 'em with your own eyes at the track.
Really total HP doesn't always equate to what you'll run. Sticking to the ground and using the right convertor and gears gets you a long way. a 400HP motor behind optimal traction/convertor/gear could easily outrun a 500HP motor that isn't setup right for a 1/4 mile.
