matt- i think your enthusiasm is whats killing you. you wanna do so much and you wanna get on the road so bad, you're forgetting your age. when we were your age we were the same way. we wanted to drive! i just didnt think about it and went on with life. there is no point in spending time worrying about hitting 11s and buying parts. instead of buying parts why not buy something nice for your girlfriend? or even your mom who has done so much for you with your passion for your car? all i'm sayin man is don't piss away your childhood over a car you won't drive for a long time. when i was your age i was hangin with the guys late at night and chillin with girls after school. i did what normal teenagers did and went to malls and movies and kept a 20 hour/week job. over the summers i worked my ass off. i wasted my money on taking girls out, new clothes, and hangin out with the guys. but i also saved up money for my car (and i think you would agree the end product was well worth it). my father did pay for a large majority of the car but i did pay for some of it (another payment was made to my mom as a bribe to get the car, but thats another story on itself
). invest wisely man. im getting a little off topic now but i hope your following me. i learned alot about cars when i helped my buddy with his chevelle. we never did finish the car but i learned a whole lot that way. you wouldnt believe the amount of hours we put into that car but it was a great time. it was well worth it. and guess how old i was when i did most of the work on that car? 13 and 14.
abridged version: go out, make new friends, play sports, do something! your gonna regret having wasted your youth on cars when it didn't help you then.
one more quick note: i got my camaro brand new in August 2002. i did my first non-stereo related mod in February 2005 when my car had over 40,000 miles on it. and my car is still a baby! so dont bother rushing things cause a couple years might not sound like a long time, but it really is.
