Starter Shim

I forgot to post this yesterday.

I pulled my old starter and had it tested - toast. So I bought a new one and went to put it in, only to find out the short (recessed) bolt doesn't line up with the bolt hole. The folks at Autozone said the starter is the correct one for my car, but the bolt hole don't line up.

My old starter did not have a shim, however Haynes mentions having a shim for some models. Does it sound like I need a shim, or do I have the wrong starter? The long bolt marries up to the bolt hole just fine, it's just the short bolt that doesnt line up.
