This is basically how GM wired your fan. Except the trigger circuit is reversed. The switch completes the ground (85), and a fused 12v source to 86. If you insist on a switch, run the ground to your trigger instead. Or, replace the switch (or is the realy bad?) and add a switch to the circuit.
