The dowel pin on the front of the LT1 cam needs to be changed or shaved by a machine shop. It's too long and will probably poke through the timing cover. Other than that, it should slide right in. Go nice and easy, don't nick the journals and put plenty of motor oil on it to make it easier.

Is there enough of a difference between the L98 cam and LT1 cam to warrant a swap in the first place?
