posi = limited slip, it is a simple tension system. when you make a turn the limited slip will allow one tire to turn faster to make the outside of the arc while leaving the inside tire turning slower. when going in a straight line, since the pressure on both tires is equal, it will try to turn both at the same rate.
for both to be locked up at all times is a spool as smokinss stated
