Tim one of the best places to get some information about this stuff would be to ask some of the stock and super stock racers. Here is a link to one of the boards where a lot of knowledgable guys hang out:

Good advice on that board for guys with stock style suspension. Make sure you get good shocks to go with the calvert setup and you will be more than happy. I have seen some leaf spring truck going real real fast with a leaf spring and cal trac setup on 10 inch slicks. So it is easily possible to do.
